Grandparents
Seek Visitation Rights to See Grandchildren
Grandparents of a child whose parents were divorced
filed a request with the court for visitation.
The request was made pursuant to Hawaii statute
which allowed grandparents to obtain visitation
rights. The childs natural mother argued visitation
by grandparents was only proper if it was shown
that her parenting was bringing harm to her child.
The Hawaii Supreme Court considered wether the
law allowing grandparent visitation was constitutional.
