Dr.
Hired by Insurer Owes
Duty to Patient
An insurance doctor, whether
working for a worker's compensation insurer or
a casualty insurer owes a duty of care to the
injured person when the doctor agrees to do an
examination and make comments as to any appropriate
care which may be necessary. This is true even
if the doctor even if the doctor is hired exclusively
by the insurance company and never saw the injured
person before he did so at the request of the
insurance company.
